— The ground here

What Lawrence actually does with water

Lawrence is the Marion County exception on this list. Where Speedway, Beech Grove, Southport and Clermont are 1950s and 60s towns that finished growing, Lawrence kept going: the median home was built in 1992 and only about a quarter of the housing predates 1970. That makes it much more like Avon or Greenwood in what it needs than like its Marion County neighbors.

The consequence is that Lawrence gets both kinds of call. In the older sections it is the classic Marion County work: aging laterals, no perimeter drain, roof water that has been landing against a foundation for sixty years. In the newer sections it is suburban work: swales that stopped carrying, patios and pools that changed the grade, downspouts that need to go underground and be taken somewhere useful.

Lawrence is carved out of the Indianapolis Phase I MS4 and runs its own stormwater program, so permitted work here goes through the city rather than through Indianapolis. That is a small administrative difference that matters when a project needs a permit and nobody checked which desk it belongs to.

— How it works

Every Lawrence job starts the same way

Call or text us

Start with a call or a text to (317) 503-6782. Tell us what is going on in your own words. Water pools by the back door. The old driveway has to go. The yard slopes toward the house. You do not need the technical terms and you do not need a plan drawn up. If it is something we handle we will set a time to come look. If it is not, we will tell you that and point you somewhere better if we can.

We walk it with you

Casey comes out and looks at the actual site with you. This part matters more in dirt work than in almost any other trade. Two back yards that sound identical on the phone can be completely different once you see the slope, the access, the soil and where the water wants to go. Walking it together means you can point at the problem and we can talk through options on the spot, including options that cost you less than what you had in mind.

You get a free estimate by email

After the walkthrough we put the estimate together and email it to you, with the scope of work written out so you can see what is and is not included. It is free and there is no pressure attached. Take your time with it and compare it if you want to. Honest pricing only works if you have room to check it.

Free, in writing, with no obligation to move forward. A deposit reserves your spot on the schedule once you approve it.

— Questions

Questions we hear in Lawrence

Do I go to Indianapolis or to Lawrence for a permit?

Lawrence. It is carved out of the Indianapolis Phase I MS4 and runs its own stormwater program, so permitted work goes through the city of Lawrence. We handle that rather than leaving it to you.

My house is from the 1990s. What tends to go wrong?

Grade and routing more than failure. Thirty years is enough for backfill to settle, for a shallow swale to stop carrying, and for landscaping, fences and patios to interrupt the route the lot was graded to use. It is rarely the pipe.

Do you work on both older and newer parts of town?

Yes, and Lawrence needs both. The older sections get lateral repair, footing drains and waterproofing. The newer sections get regrading, buried downspouts and drainage corrections.

Do you serve Lawrence?

Yes. Lawrence is in Marion County, one of the four counties we work. We are based in Brownsburg, and Lawrence is regular territory.

How much will it cost?

There is no honest way to answer that without seeing the property, because the price is driven by where the water is coming from, how far it has to be carried and what it has to cross. The estimate is free, Casey walks it with you, and you get the scope in writing by email.
