Straight answers before you ever pick up the phone

These are the questions we hear most from homeowners around Hendricks County. If yours is not on the list, call or text and ask. You will get a plain answer from the people who do the work.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. Estimates are completely free, whether the job is a small drainage fix or a full site cleanup. We will look at what you have, talk through the options, and give you a straight number with no obligation attached. If the price does not work for you, no hard feelings. We would rather you know exactly where you stand than avoid calling because you are worried about a fee.

Should I call or text?

Whichever is easier for you, because the same number works for both. A call is great if you want to talk through a project and get quick answers. A text works well when it is simpler to send a few photos of the area along with a short description. Either way, you are reaching Casey and Ashley directly, not an answering service, so the person reading your message is the person who will actually handle your project.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Hendricks County, Indiana, and serve Danville, Avon, Plainfield, Brownsburg, Pittsboro, and Lizton. If you are near one of those towns but not exactly in one of them, reach out anyway. Service areas have edges, but they are not walls, and the honest answer is that it depends on the job. A quick call or text will settle it in about a minute.

What services do you offer?

We handle excavation and grading, demolition, concrete breaking and hauling, debris removal, dirt removal, driveway removal, buried downspouts and drainage work, retaining walls, and augering. Most projects combine a few of those, like breaking out an old driveway, hauling off the concrete, and regrading the area afterward. If you are not sure which category your project falls into, just describe what you want gone or changed and we will sort out the rest.

Who actually does the work?

Sterling's is a family owned company run by Casey and Ashley Jones, a husband and wife team. The person who walks your property and gives you the estimate is the same person who shows up and does the work. Nothing gets handed off to a crew that never heard your instructions. That is why details like where the machine can drive, what needs protecting, and how you want things left do not get lost between the quote and the job.

Why do you have a 5.0 rating on Google?

Because we treat communication and follow-through as part of the job, not as extras. Reviewers consistently mention the same things: we keep in touch before, during, and after the work, we show up when we say we will, and we respect the property we are working on. One customer wrote that we delivered on everything we said we would do. That is the standard we hold ourselves to on every project, large or small.

How does scheduling work?

Once you approve an estimate, we work out timing with you directly. Excavation depends on weather and ground conditions, so we stay in touch rather than leaving you guessing. If rain pushes something back, you will hear it from us instead of finding out by looking at an empty driveway. Clear communication about scheduling is one of the things our reviews mention most often.

What should I have ready when I contact you?

A few photos of the area help a lot, especially if you can text them. Rough dimensions are useful too, even if that just means pacing off the space or making an honest guess at length and width. Beyond that, be ready to describe what you want gone or changed: the slab you want out, the low spot that holds water, the slope you want tamed. You do not need to know any technical terms. Plain descriptions are all it takes for us to point you in the right direction.

How do you protect my yard and property?

We plan machine access before anything moves, and we listen when you tell us what matters, whether that is a flower bed, a septic line, a fence, or the lawn itself. One of our reviews came from a homeowner who had put a project off for years because other contractors ignored their request to minimize damage to the property. We took that request seriously, and it is how we approach every job. Tell us what you care about, and we will work around it.

What is the difference between excavation and grading?

Excavation is digging: removing soil to create a hole, trench, or lowered area, like a foundation dig or a drainage trench. Grading is shaping: adjusting the slope and surface of the ground so water runs where it should and the site is ready for whatever comes next. Many projects need both, dig first and shape after. If your yard holds water or slopes toward the house, grading is usually the fix. If something needs to go into or come out of the ground, that is excavation.

When should I bury my downspouts?

If your downspouts dump water right at the foundation, you are watching one of the most common causes of wet basements and soggy yards happen in real time. Burying downspouts carries that roof water away underground and releases it where it can drain safely. Telltale signs include soggy strips along the house, mulch washing out beneath the downspouts, and water showing up in the basement after heavy rain. It is a smaller project than most people expect, and it pairs naturally with other grading and drainage work.

Do you haul away debris and old concrete?

Yes. Hauling is part of what we do, so when we break out a slab or a driveway, or dig out dirt, we can load it and take it away rather than leaving a pile for you to figure out. That includes broken concrete, excess dirt, and general debris from the work. When we put together your estimate, we will spell out exactly what is included, so there are no surprises about what leaves and what stays.

Do you take small jobs?

We do. A short trench, a couple of buried downspouts, a few augered holes, or a small pad you want gone are all real parts of our work, not annoyances. Every customer relationship starts somewhere, and plenty of larger projects have come from homeowners who first called about something small. If it involves dirt, concrete, or drainage, it is worth a call or a text.

How do I get started?

Call or text us, or send an email if that is easier for you. Describe the project in plain terms, send photos if you have them, and we will go from there. Estimates are free, so the first step costs you nothing but a few minutes. From that very first conversation you will be dealing directly with the people who do the work, and we will be respectful of your time and your property from the start.
