Jamestown

Eel basin, no municipal stormwater program, and drainage that has to work without anywhere public to send it.

— The ground here

What Jamestown actually does with water

Jamestown sits in the Eel basin, which puts it with Lizton, Clayton, Coatesville and North Salem rather than with the rest of Boone County. It is a small town with rural ground around it, and like the other Eel-basin towns on our list it is not an MS4 and has no municipal stormwater program.

That absence is the defining fact for anyone with a water problem here. There is no public storm system standing by to accept your discharge, which means a solution has to be self-contained: a legitimate outlet to a ditch or a legal drain, a dry well where the soil will take it, or a basin sized for what actually arrives. It also means fewer approvals to work through, so projects can move quickly once the design is right.

Practically, the work here looks like the rural end of our range. Culverts under drives, long drainage runs, water and septic service lines measured in hundreds of feet, stone drives that need grade rather than another load of gravel, and pad and footing work for outbuildings on properties with room to use them.

Jamestown at a glance

Where the water goes

Eel basin, alongside Lizton, Clayton, Coatesville and North Salem rather than the rest of Boone County.

Ground

Till plain with rural surround.

Housing

Small town stock. Expect original drainage or none at all.

Permitting

Not an MS4. No municipal stormwater program, and in unincorporated Boone County the County Surveyor is the front door.

— How it works

Every Jamestown job starts the same way

Call or text us

Start with a call or a text to (317) 503-6782. Tell us what is going on in your own words. Water pools by the back door. The old driveway has to go. The yard slopes toward the house. You do not need the technical terms and you do not need a plan drawn up. If it is something we handle we will set a time to come look. If it is not, we will tell you that and point you somewhere better if we can.

We walk it with you

Casey comes out and looks at the actual site with you. This part matters more in dirt work than in almost any other trade. Two back yards that sound identical on the phone can be completely different once you see the slope, the access, the soil and where the water wants to go. Walking it together means you can point at the problem and we can talk through options on the spot, including options that cost you less than what you had in mind.

You get a free estimate by email

After the walkthrough we put the estimate together and email it to you, with the scope of work written out so you can see what is and is not included. It is free and there is no pressure attached. Take your time with it and compare it if you want to. Honest pricing only works if you have room to check it.

Free, in writing, with no obligation to move forward. A deposit reserves your spot on the schedule once you approve it.

— Questions

Questions we hear in Jamestown

There is no town storm sewer. Where does my water go?

To an outlet you have a right to use, into the ground where the soil will take it, or into a basin sized to hold it. Which of those is right depends on elevations and soil, and that is what the site visit settles.

Who approves work out here?

In unincorporated Boone County the County Surveyor's office is the front door, and anything touching a legal drain goes through them. We pull what the work requires rather than leaving it to you.

Do you handle long water and sewer runs?

Yes. Water service, sewer repair and replacement, and directional boring where a run has to cross a drive or a mature lawn without open trenching it.

Do you serve Jamestown?

Yes. Jamestown is in Boone County, one of the four counties we work. We are based in Brownsburg, and Jamestown is regular territory.

How much will it cost?

There is no honest way to answer that without seeing the property, because the price is driven by where the water is coming from, how far it has to be carried and what it has to cross. The estimate is free, Casey walks it with you, and you get the scope in writing by email.
