Two hundred and fifty-two feet of relief, five times as steep as Lizton, and two neighbors can sit in different major river basins.
Trafalgar is the steepest ground we work, at roughly 252 feet of relief across a comparable box. Lizton, at the other end of our range, has 49. That is a factor of five, and it changes the trade entirely. Where the flat towns get ponding and outlet problems, Trafalgar gets erosion, washouts, slope stabilization and the kind of water velocity that cuts a channel through a lawn in one storm.
It is also the most extreme divide on our list. Goose Creek runs to Indian Creek and the White River, while Ray Creek runs to Youngs Creek, then Sugar Creek, the Driftwood and the East Fork White River. Two neighbors in Trafalgar can genuinely be in different major basins. On anything involving an outlet or a regulated drain, that is not trivia, it determines whose rules apply.
The housing is a barbell: roughly 15% predates 1940 and about 49% has been built since 2000, with almost nothing in between. So we are dealing with century-old houses and brand new construction in the same town, and very little of the mid-century stock that dominates the Marion County suburbs. Trafalgar is not an MS4, so drainage solutions here are private and have to work without a public system to receive them.

About 252 feet of relief, the steepest of the 27 towns and roughly five times Lizton. Erosion and velocity country.
A barbell: about 15.3% predates 1940 and roughly 49% has been built since 2000, with very little in between.
Not an MS4 on the rosters we could verify. Solutions here are private and have to stand on their own.
We do all nine services everywhere we work. These are the ones the ground in Trafalgar asks for first.
Walls built on a proper base with drainage behind them, plus rip rap and slope stabilization.

You do not need the technical terms and you do not need a plan drawn up. If it is something we handle we will set a time to come look. If it is not, we will tell you that and point you somewhere better if we can.
Casey comes out and looks at the actual site with you. This part matters more in dirt work than in almost any other trade. Two back yards that sound identical on the phone can be completely different once you see the slope, the access, the soil and where the water wants to go. Walking it together means you can point at the problem and we can talk through options on the spot, including options that cost you less than what you had in mind.
After the walkthrough we put the estimate together and email it to you, with the scope of work written out so you can see what is and is not included. It is free and there is no pressure attached. Take your time with it and compare it if you want to. Honest pricing only works if you have room to check it.
Free, in writing, with no obligation to move forward. A deposit reserves your spot on the schedule once you approve it.

Taking the energy out of it before it reaches the point where it is cutting. On ground this steep the answer is almost never a bigger pipe at the bottom. It is interception higher up, a properly sized swale or curtain drain, and rip rap or geotextile where the water has to cross. Armouring the gully without diverting anything just moves the cutting downstream.
Sometimes, and we will tell you when you do not. On slopes like Trafalgar's, water is frequently what is destabilizing the ground, and drainage above and behind the slope can solve it without a structure. Where a wall is genuinely needed, the base and the drainage behind it are what determine whether it is still straight in ten years.
It might genuinely be in a different watershed. Trafalgar sits on the sharpest divide in our area, with some properties draining to the White River and others to the East Fork by an entirely separate route. Combined with 252 feet of relief, small differences in where you sit make large differences in what the water does.
Yes. Trafalgar is in Johnson County, one of the four counties we work. We are based in Brownsburg, and Trafalgar is regular territory.
There is no honest way to answer that without seeing the property, because the price is driven by where the water is coming from, how far it has to be carried and what it has to cross. The estimate is free, Casey walks it with you, and you get the scope in writing by email.
